Ambassador of Italy to Armenia Hosted in RA NA Standing Committee

On May 21, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on European Integration Naira Zohrabyan met with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Italy to Armenia Vincenzo del Monaco.

The sides discussed issues concerning the new political situation in Armenia. Naira Zohrabyan has noted that the Ambassador assumes his duties in a historical period for Armenia, when the country goes through revolutionary way in all spheres. To the Committee Chair’s assessment, in this issue the bilateral relations both with the EU and the EU certain member states will be of essential importance.

Touching upon the RA-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, Naira Zohrabyan expressed hope that the ratification of the document will not delay from Italy.

The possibilities of the implementation of the investment programmes in Armenia were discussed. The Ambassador has noted that numerous Italian investors are ready to discuss the issue of implementing serious investment programmes. He has informed that the Italian Renco Company would actively continue and enlarge the implementation of the investment programmes in Armenia, and many tourism organizations are interested in a country with ancient history and culture.

In the course of the meeting the parties also discussed issues relating to the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Both sides referred to the problems impeding the development of Armenia which will become issues of discussion of the joint agenda with the RA-EU, as well as with the EU certain states in the new political situation.
